20+4 pin power supply question

Thread Starter
I have a question about the 20+4 pin power supply. the question is that can i use that power supply on both 20 pin motherboard and 24 pin motherboard? because i looked at the connecter , its 24 pin, or do i have to take out 4 pin from the connecter to make it 20 pin? and when i use the 24 pin connecter, i just attach the 4 pin back on it to make it 24 pin??

When using it as a 20 pin you need to take off the extra 4 pins, when you need a 24 pin you just clip the extra 4 back on.

Yes, you sure can. Heck, even most 24 pin mobo's will work with a 20 pin psu. My Asus P5WD2, which is supposed to be 24 pin only, works just fine with a 20 pin.

Can you seperate the 4 from the 20? If not, do you have room on the side of the female mobo connector? Try plugging it in and see.
