SLI question

Thread Starter
Ok i already have a Gigabyte 6600GT and im thinking of putting it in SLI, my question is that do both the card have to be the same brand or can they be different, i know that they have to be the same type but im not sure about whether they have to be the same brand.

What if the stock core speeds are different? Same chip (G70 in my case), but different stock speeds?
Cheers

Doesn't have to be same brand, clock speed, or memory size. Check out this link

it just has to be the same core... like you have to pair a 6600GT with another 6600GT. one can be at stock speeds and the other can be oc'd. one can have 128mb of ram and the other 256.

the way it works is that it will automaticall default to the slowest card. if one is 500/1000 and the other 550/1100 they will both run at 500/1000 unless you manually oc them once in sli.

if one card has 128mb and the other 256 both cards will only use 128.
