Question about my PSU

Thread Starter
On my PSU it has some fan only molexes...well on antecs website it says that thermally controlled fans wont work on the fan only molexes...now that doesnt make sense if theyre FAN ONLY lol, so needless to say my 120mm fan doesnt work now cause I had to use my molexes for the 7800GT...

Well, are sunon fans thermally controlled? Im getting some with my dual heater core for christmas and I want to be posotive I can plug those two fans into the fan only ports.

Well, the reason that thermally controlled fans don't work on the antec fan only connectors is that the two systems are attempting to do the same thing. When the fans detect lower temperatures, they throtte back, but at the same time, the PSU sensor lower temperatures and cuts power to the fans. It gets too confusing, and things don't work properly.

Check out the specs for the particular Sunons you're talking about or post a link. Generally, fans that are thermally controlled state that clearly as it's an added feature that usually warrants a higher price. One thing to be aware of is that some thermally controlled fans have a setting to disable the automatic thermal control. There may also be an easy mod to disable that feature.

As an alternative, you can always buy some molex Y splitters. They're inexpensive and effective.
