explorer.exe freezes

Every time I use internet explorer(like going to c:\\ or stuff) it freezes, my whole system doesn't freeze, just everything that has anything to do with it. No virsu(did scan) no spyware. Anyone has a idea?

Opening My computer, want to eject dvd-rom, voila, system freezes

Have you updated windows lately?, Try putting your CPU back to stock speeds and see if it does it.

I had a similar problem with a machine that simply wouldn't load explorer.exe at boot. A repair installation took care of that.

am I going to lose anything with this repair thing? Do I have to install all my games again

(makes me think of that simpsons episode, PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN)

Nope, as long as you do it right. Just boot from your Windows cd, hit Enter to set up Windows, then it will say something like "Searching for previous installations of Windows". At this point it will give you the option to continue with a fresh installation, or you can hit R to do a repair installation. This simply reinstalls all the system files, it doesn't mess with your personal stuff.
