ASRock 939Dual-SATA2 Help

Thread Starter
Hey all,
I'm having a serious brain hemhorrage over this problem, and was directed to this forum. Anyways, here's the deal: My motherboard only recognizes 512MB of ram, even though I have a gig stick (single). Now I may be a super noob and you may have to run dual sticks in a dual motherboard (is this the case?), but if not, I'm clueless. I've updated the BIOS to 1.4 (the newest version as of 11/11/05) and it still only recognizes the RAM as being 512 megs. I hope that you guys can help me out, even if it means showing me where I went wrong. Also, I have all the specs for my system below. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

Note: All parts were bought from newegg so could it be that the RAM they shipped was the wrong one? I ran the sticker on it and it came up as being a gig also, if that helps.

No, the mobo supports 4gig of ram, it should be recognizing the 1gb stick.

Did you try testing the RAM in a diferent machine or switching the slot on the motherboard that it is in?

yeah I switch DIMM slots, but to no avail. Unfortunately because of the placement I can't put the RAM in the right 2 slots, so I can't test that (CD Burner in the way), but I did switch it to the other slot. I guess I will put it in another machine and see if in fact they gave me the wrong chip.
