AMD Athlon 64 4000+ vs AMD Athlon 64 FX57 vs AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+

Which is better? Is the Athlon 64 X2 basically like dual Athlon 64 processors or is it dual Athlon 64 FX57 cores or what? What is the difference between the 4000+ and the FX57.

Sry im a AMD noob

4000 is 2.4ghz 1mb L2cache, fx57 is 2.8ghz 1mb L2cache the 4400x2 is like two processors both going 2.2ghz and each have 1mb L2cache.
Also theres a 3700 at 2.2ghz 1mb l2cache, fx-55 at 2.6ghz 1mb l2cache. The "4000" is a comparison to intel speeds, it would perform much like a 4ghz pentuim would. Same w/ 3700 (like a 3.7ghz pentuim). This is because AMD processors can do 9 operations per clock cycle as intel only does 6, that makes an AMD do just as much work at 2/3 the speed of Pentuims. Pentuims are however switching to a different architecture and will be going with 9 op's per clock cycle I do believe (don't know exactly when).

The x2 series would be best to go with, the next FX to come out is going to be on January 10th and it is going to be a dual core 2.6ghz processor (FX-60).

4000+ runs at 2.4 FX57 runs at 2.8. The X2's have 2 core and does as much calculation as the comparable Intel (4400+/- = 4.4 Intel)

I believe the FX line processors have slightly better memory controllers and unlocked multipliers whereas the 4000+ doesn't. The FX has a better chance of hitting 3 GHz because it has a higher stock speed and is made to got that far and farther. The X2 is basically two a64 cores.

An FX-57 operates at 2.8GHz not .6. A 4400 has a clock speed of 2.2 when multiplied by 9 and divided by six is about equal to a 3.3 intel dual.

The AMD A64 4000+ uses the same technology as the AMD Athlon FX57, and can the A64 4000+ Can be 'Overclocked' (See guides, or google it..) to FX57 Speeds. Only diffrence is that the FX57 is clocked at higher speeds than the A64 4000+ i guess..

The X2 4400+ Is the best since it is futureproof, and as you said, is dual core. Not nessarly the Athlon cores, but a diffrent kind.

Welcome to AMD Land. =D

And in case you didn't quite get it, I'll stick my input in here too. Athlon 64 4000+ and Athlon 64 FX-57 are identicle in all ways of performance except that the FX-57 runs 400MHz faster than the 4000+. The Athlon 64 X2 4400+ is a dual core processor, meaning it's quite literately two processors on one chip, and each of those processors is running at 2.2GHz.

If your gaming with big pockets go the fx57

If your gaming with a bit of a budget a64 4000+

If your multitasking many things at one go the 4400+, although the 3800+ is much better value when overclocked abit.

What core do the Athlon 64 X2s use? Is it the Regular Athlon64 core that the 3800+ and 4000+ have but 2 of them?
