First install, NEED HELP BIOSTAR-CELEY D 335=NO BOOT

Well I got my new MB and CPU today. Got everything put together, powered the system on and can run BIOS system and what nots but it will not boot. I have the new Biostar P4M80-MA board, and a Intel Celeron D 335. I tried to boot the driver disc with no luck. I checked that everything was plugged in correctly, checked that jumpers were in right and so on, everything is in order so far, after an hour of no luck I swapped out CPU's to see if that was the problem, and even then it wouldnt boot. So I put my old configuration back together ran the driver disc installed the drivers and put the new MB and CPU in. Still nothing I dont know what the deal is. Im wondering if it has anything to do with the system being a compaq, I have no clue all I know is with the stock MB and CPU it works fine but with the new MB new CPU and the old CPU it will not boot. Im just amazed that it wont boot from the disc provided by biostar, attempts twice then stops. Please dont tell me Im gonna have to by a new OS just to get this to work!! If this helps any I am trying to install this to my compaq system without formating the drive(which I didnt think was needed) because I dont have the original disc. I noticed in the past when trying to apply boot skins with the computer it would fail to load just like with the new MB and CPU, funny thing is this computer Im on right now has no problems running the boot skins, no did it have any problem running my other PC CPU. Im guessing somthing is up with the OS. But any help or addvice would be highly appretiated. Im gonna go ahead and do some searching and see what I can find out. Thanks J.B

What is it thats failing? Bios? Windows boot?

If you use a new mobo most of the time you WILL need to re-install windows!

the bios is not failing I think it is the OS(XP) will not load windows, it starts to fade in then restarts the PC. After writing this I figured Id give it a go on this PC, it loaded and installed the new motherboard and cpu, no problem(and I must say theres some serious overclocking potential on that board). Im wondering if something is out of date on the other PC. Just realy frustrating. I could take the easy road and use this as my main puter, but Id rather get the other one setup right. I mean if I cant get that figured out I probably should'nt build my next one........ Any other thoughts on this issue? My ears are smoking, Ive been working on it since FEDEX delivered at 10am.
Just a guess but would the OS being the 2003 version have anything to do with it?? Im guessing by tommarrow Ill be doing back flips and crapping purple monkeys.

As was suggested above, you almost always need to do a clean install (or at a minimum, a repair install of Windows) to get a new motherboard to work properly. If you can borrow an XP Home disk, you should be able to do the repair install (as you have a fully licensed version installed, presumably with an XP sticker on your case). That should correct the driver issues that are likely the root of your problem.

Building a system from scratch is easier in many ways, so don't let this experience shy you away from building systems in the future.

Alright thanks guys, I guess Ill just put it back in the box and wait till I can pick up a new OS. I just have one other question, why does this computer have problems and not the other?? They are both compaq's, this one is a 5010nx(2003 model) and the other is a SR1103WM(late 2004)

But you know what, now that I think about it, I might just put this back in the other PC, and buy a 775 socket board and CPU.

Thanks for the help guys.......

It's possible that the computer that's working uses the same chipset as the new motherboard. If so, there will be many many few conflicts with swapping out hardware.

Chips are completely different, the PC that works with the new MB has an MSI board with Intel 845g chip set and the new board has VIA P4M800, this computer Im on(the one that wont work with the new MB) has the Intel 845gl. I wonder if clearing cmos would help.
