56C idle temps on OEM sempron 2500+

Its all stock, and only 1 exhaust fan in the front.



Im worried if this will damage the CPU any.

P.S. this isnt my comp

is yours socket a or 754?
for a 754 no for a socket A i have no clue
if you want check it in the bios, speedfan might be wrong (gasp). Also use everest to see if it gives you anthing different.

What type of thermal paste did you use?

ok mine's a 2600+ and it's running 28C idle, while it was stock. Did you recently tried installing any heatsinks? Was it pre built?
If you have, check and see if you did apply thermal paste.
If you haven't follow the instructions on my first post.

Check the BIOS, it reports aprox. 80% of the full load.
Socket "A" should be kept to about a 55c max under full load.

that's a crappy build, um go to the store where they built it and ask for the password, there's a chance that they didn't put the thermal paste in

that would be my guess, they just might have not used any thermal paste, try reapplying (applying?) some as5, and if that wasn't the problem, then the as5 will still drop your temps a bit, its a win win situation the way i look at it. a good $5 spent.
