I'd say get the GT. They can easily OC past an Ultra's speed. A good, solid card.

If it isn't going to be for that long, I suggest getting an el' Cheapo 6800GT seeing as its going to be worth the same then.

The 6800GT would be the better choice.

Ive been hearing that the x800 is faster for current games, The reason i looked into the 6800gt was the sm3.0 support, but I hear that failed. Im really at the edge of my seat here

They fail Microsoft's WHQL tests... which I'm not even sure what that means, but the proof is in the pudding, and there's no shortage of screenshots detailing the 6800's ability to run SM3.0. Performance wise they're about as even as it gets, each will have its strengths and weaknesses in different games, and you really can't go wrong with either. I'd say bite the bullet and get a PCI-E mobo and a new 7800GT for $300, cause that's a steal of a deal... but the cost of the new board kinda offsets it..

Ah, yeah I've only seen two, and I think they've both been discontinued... They really screwed us all on the PCI-Express thing. Luckily it was a little easier even with my Socket 754 Athlon 64.
Well, I would personally get the 6800GT for the SM3.0 support because its use is only going to increase as time goes on, especially now that both ATi and nVidia have SM3.0 hardware out, so game developers can use it more freely.
