AMD XP 3200+ Bottleneck QUESTION

Thread Starter
Hey guys, for x-mas I was thinking of asking for a 6800GS. From the benchmarks I've seen. It nearly ties and sometimes even beats the 6800GT. Im a die hard nVidia fan so no sense in trying to talk me into some GTO or x800xl card. Anyways, I was wondering if my computer would bottleneck the 6800GS. Im not entirly sure if it would or wouldn't. So I though I'd ask the guys on OC.net .

Write back fast,

Josh

P.S. Im going to get a 6800GS AGP 8x, not sure if that would mean anything in bottleneck.. but just saying it for more details (Its coming out in AGP form in the next 2-3 weeks, right before the holidays )

a video card bottlenecking your computer is like a hampster in a bigger cage.... actualy i don't know about that one, but i don't see any reason why you would think this card would create a bottleneck.

*cough cough* ati x800xl kicks the crap out of all 6800 gs/gt cards muhahaha *cough cough*

I've got a chart here putting the 6800gt (doesnt have gs, but viable comparison) it beats the 800 and 850 and is tied with the X1800 256mb.

Heres the chart:

Also the Nvidia cards got pixel shader 3, ATI still back on 2. It makes a lot of difference.

hmmm. Lol, but what about the question of my system bottlenecking the 6800GS. It won't reach its peak if it can't be let go.

EDIT: w00t w00t, POST 600!

look at it this way, any way it goes it'll perform better than what you got right now.....

6800GT beats X850XT PE?!?!? Yeah - I DON'T THINK SO!

P.S. Get an ATI. You'll thank me later.

I don't think you will have that problem myself. I know the 6800 is better, but not be years when you think about a FX 5900 ultra

actually at hardocp they do tests on these, and in the nvidia favored games, the x800xl keeps up w/ the 6800 gt. in the ati games, the x800xl beats the crap out of 6800gt even in sli mode...
