First of all, Intels are not bad on games. It's true that AMD holds a bit of an edge, but a good Intel will play any game on the market well. Cooling is definitely an issue, but it's one that can be resolved pretty easily. I don't want the thread to become an AMD vs. Intel one; just be aware that both brands will do everything well and that both have advantages over the other in certain applications.

On to your original quesiton... Beyond the obvious difference (SLI vs. non-SLI), there aren't very many major differences in the boards. The P5WD2 allows more IDE drives (6 vs. 4), but the P5N32 has more SATAs (5 internal + 1 external vs. 4 internal. The P5N32 also offers a bit more in the way of RAID modes. All specs are based on Newegg's listings and not confirmed from the Asus website.

The P5WD2 is a very well respected board, and it's many peoples' board of choice for 775 non-SLI. You should get very good performance from it.

but it does support sli. but thank you for clearing that up for me. one other question though my processor runs very hot at 49 degrees idle is that normal?
you see i want to overclock it but its way too hot. it has the zalman flower cooler on it. and i reapplied the as5 following the guides on this site. it used to run at 51 and now it runs at 49. my question is though i turned it on without a heat sink for like one second and in the bios its said my temp is 80 degrees. do processors get to their idle temp straight away like that coz it was on for less than ten seconds.

Right i know a lot of you maybe sick of hearing this but for his sake...

Several people on the Asus forum are complaining that the P5N32-SLi Deluxe is a BETA board. Its a gaming Alife board and according to Asus and its mini site they are not out yet! On the forums ASUS know and have said a bios under their own downloads area is under the wrong board and a lot of people have had to buy new chips because of this. They also say like myself that the audio will not work only on Windows xp home and not pro and media center 2005.

This board is nothing but trouble you picked the right one

The P5WD2 mb will overclock farther than the P5ND2 OR P5N32 boards. The NF4 chipset has a 250fsb limit. The P5WD2 does not run SLI. It will run dual cards bridged...but it's not true sli. The performance is less than the sli specific boards in video rendering. I have both boards (P5WD2 and P5ND2-SLI deluxe) and have gotten good results out of both boards. I can super pi faster with the p5w and 3dmark faster with the p5n-sli.
