You sir are in luck. I just found all the beta bios files.

Now all I have to do is figure out how to convert the .bin into a .zip so I can upload it.

MCP72A01-79CF1G18.zip 699k .zip file

Ok the original file was 7z so you may need to unzip the 7z file or just use 7zip to unzip it all smile.gif

Good luck,

Was looking at manual the other day and I seen the destroyer supports 16gb memory, Is this true and can anyone confirm this?

True. Do you already have 16gb of DDR2 memory and a 64 bit operating system?

I already have 8gb and 64bit, I was really just curious, but there is no way I would buy 16gb at todays market prices. DDR2 is outrageous. I found one Gskill kit but it was like 300 dollars for ddr2 800, insane. Would be interesting to know if anyone has done it though, would like to see some benchmarks. Maybe If I luck up on a cheap 16gb set I'll give it a try. I think it would prolly help if you had a bottleneck, especially if you was tri sliing or sli new erhigher end cards.

I'd imagine the extra capacity would be useless under the slackened timings and massively increased latencies..
plus it'd be a mission and a half to get your CPU-NB high when all channels loaded would be weighing it down..
but then it depends on what the memory capacity is for,
i've got 8gb in my little mitx build and i don't really think that much is necesary..

So I didn't end up getting the 980 oh well but I am currently running the 965BE since the 980 can only be found on Ebay for about 200, and Newegg keeps putting the 965 on sale for $89. I've got the official AM3 supporting bios right now, seems it keeps the chips at 800 no matter what they are, at least I've got 4 cores to play with ATM so I know everything is working.

I do have a question though what do the old programs that let you overclock with out going into your bios work on Windows 7, I cant find my disks and foxcon doesn't seem to have the links anymore.

The 965 is an unlocked cpu. Did you try upping the multiplier in the bios?

This ^

You may also want to try puting your operating system in Performance mode verses Ballanced mode. That is if you want to overclock 100% of the time.

Personally I run a MSI NF980-G65 Mobo w/a Ph II X4 955 BE and my bios set to a specific static setting while I run my OS in Ballance mode. This way the OS underclocks when there is no need for power and overclocks w/the need of more power when my GPU's and CPU power is required by games and such.

Both boards in this discussion are based on the same Chipset 780a / 980a so they both should respond identical if the bios options are selected properly according to the hardware you have installed on your 780a chipped board.

Good luck,

I know its unlocked I was going to play with bioses anyway so why overclock when I had those to flash, I got it running. I tried out the CPU stepping setting in the P16 bios. The P0 setting seemed to underclock it to 800 megahertz with every thing bare minimum, P1 is where I have it now and its running stock a little scared to try the other settings, little worried it will double, though worst case is it won't boot.
