DFI expert delayed because of numerous board failures at monarch,, ughh,, what to do? - Page 2

I'd sure hate to be one of the board's many victims. I've heard plenty of cpu frying horror stories, specially with high end cpus. Dunno why.

what you saying about the OCZ 600 watt,,, I just recieved my new Seasonic s-12 600 watt, SLI psu,,, I was running a hiper type-r but was having random restart issues and it seemed craptacular. I heard mixed reviews about the OCZ like 25 sites and reviews taht say it is great and like 5-6 that say it blows up,,,

did your OCZ go out on you?
Found this guy who bought it but never used it; he never open the UPS box that the mobo came in. Same price as newegg.

For the PSU, see http://www.overclock.net/power-suppl...hlight=ocz+600

I am using the OCZ in my current rig, so far no probs. Just made my oc more stable.

I really wanted the Asus, but it is very hard to come by.

Just installed my Asus A8N32-SLI last night. I'm very pleased with it so far. I'm going to run some benches tonight and I'll post them. To be fair, I had 2 DFI boards that died on me so regardless of the DFI fanatics in this forum, I never really consider the expert when I bought this week. The DFI doesn't have dual 16x PCI-E lanes (the Asus is the only one thus far) and considering I have an SLi setup, it was the way to go. Also, every review pretty much raved about the board. The DFI probably has a slight edge in overclocking features but the Asus wins everywhere else (including performance). Check back later and I'll list my benches as well as prior benches at stock with the Asus A8N-SLI PRemium (my prior board).

If you are looking for stock Canada Computers has and ships to US (and it'll probably be cheaper with the exchange rates)

Both MB's are very good .... and having looked at both there are distinct differences between them.. so it will come down to what you really wish to do with your system and hard the MB will be driven.

Overall the DFI will give you that edge for the same components, but it will take you some time to get this one settled .. it is by no means easier than the earlier releases. The Asus will give you a nice OC too .. but without the edge but maybe a bit easier to work with.

As to what or how Monarch were testing is open for debate, it could be that the memory they are using will not allow the MBs to boot, hence there thought that the MB is faulty.. or using the wrong slots.... more details would be needed to undertsand their approach before more comments can be meade.
