65nm update?

Thread Starter
I was just wondering what the status of Intels 65nm chips. Also, will they use LGA775 or a new socket? Also, when will the 975 chipset be coming out?

The 65nm Cedar Mill and Presler should be out in Jan and they are LGA775. Yonah is still 479 but its pins are different than the Dothan.
Very nice!

Heres some info on Cedar Mill http://www.tomshardware.com/cpu/20051007/index.html

And I think 975 is comming out in January as well along with the dual core Yonah.

975x chipset as already out on some mobos, and tests said that it's a pretty good chipset, but since the mobos with the 975x on them have almost the exact same pcb as the 955x boards.

And like said, 65nm is going to come out soon, actually, I thought it was going to be the middle of this month wasn't it? Ah maybe not haven't checked for a long time

And Yonah.....well, LOTS of people have high expectations for them, and so do I. Hopefully Intel does great with them and gives good mobo support for them. Those for sure are coming out beginning of january

Well the Yonah's basically just match the A64 clock for clock, but will OC alot better do to 65nm. But; its still mobile and it has a different pinsetup from the regular Dothans so who knows what kind of support it will have.

Yeah....you know, u'd think that intel would be smart enough to make a 65nm Dothan, with the same OC cababilities and also ops per cycle. Clock for clock isn't making it any better, so it better pull something out of it's rear end to make it shine

Well; the Dothan was basically more or less pure gaming and usually fell behind AMD in other tasks. The Yonah matches AMD clock for clock in like everything you can test.. So I say its a pretty good trade off. The Yonah should be able to OC very well (2.0 to 3.0 on air easy likely).. But we'll have to see stacks up the AMD's 65 nm dual cores in performance and OC'ability when they come out.

Edit: I wonder why they didnt put it on 775.. Considering the pin set up is different from the Dothan anyways; its not like you can pop one in to replace your Dothan..
