Help me break 28'000 (3dmark06)

Thread Starter
Right now I have my CPU at 4.0GHz and my Ram at 1600MHz, my 4890's are oc'd from 900/975 to 940/1100 and their getting a little bit of artifacting so I need to lower the clock somewheres there... lowering my score even more (27805)

I tried 4.2GHz and 4.1GHz with no luck, 4.2 wouldn't boot and 4.1 crashed on the CPU test. These clocks are at stock voltage so I didn't expect them to work. Maybe I should increase the voltage? If so where do I oc it to?

Thanks!

Running it in XP would give you more points, stopping some of the un-needed services in vista might help. Better cooling or getting the ambient temp down more to allow more overclock should help too.

I tried XP and my points were around 1500 lower then with Windows 7, so I'm not sure what you mean. I bench with 17 processes running and it's just alot more work to get the rest nailed down

Alright thanks! I'm idling at 45c right now at 4.0ghz, willl the 1.32 volt increase effect the temps by a large margin?

Also.. after the OC I found that Google chrome is almost Unusable.. it freezes every now and then, and I went back to stock spec's and it's still freezing and stuff... on IE now, and it seems to be fine, weird. I'll reformat later today to see if it helps.

You can go to like 1.4v on the D0 if you are only going to bench on it.
Also have you raised the voltage on your cards at all? Try turning your fan speed up to 100% to make it more stable for benching.
