Go get the 5870. It's a great replacement for your 4870X2. It has less power consumption, less heat, it supports DirectX 11, has more transistors (over 2 billion), performs the same as the 4870X2 (or better on other applications and games), and is a great investment for the coming years ahead.

If there is that much of a price difference I would say no, the performance is almost the same. I would wait until GT300 comes out, hopefully there will be a larger performance increase.

seriously? Performance is practically the same, and you think that's worth $300? Really. What is he getting for $300.

Not worth $300. Just not worth it. The major improvement between the cards is DX11, with few games supporting it.

Just wait till the price drops; the performance increase simply isn't worth the price.

Either get an HD5970 later on or a GT300 (if it performs well and will be affordable). Otherwise I'd skip this generation and get the next generation DX11 cards, you'll survive untill then .
