I'm confused, all this talk about the new discs being so outragously costly to produce for ps3, why not just make a ps3 game on a dvd ? ~ it will support these as it will run ps2 games and act as a dvd player correct? Atleast the ones that don't require over 8gb of space of course.

4 disks for some games? If MS is smart theyll upgrade everones 360 to an HD DVD drive for free. Sure itll cost them but itll allow for larger games and devopers and gamers dont like multiple disks. Plus itll compete better with BluRay. Call it an investment

And whats this about PC gaming going down the tubes? Are they nuts?

Oh well.. I dont care about switching discs.. People still loved FFVII and FFVIII and FFIX and they had multiple discs.. People look too much at the paper specs; who cares if Blue Ray can hold 50gbs? Its how its utilized, and file compression exists for a reason..

That article is completely wrong. The console wars are not going to be determined by which storage format, that's just silly. The console wars are going to be won based on the game selection. That's what made the PSX jump over the N64, and that's what allowed the XBox to jump over the GameCube and gain ground on the PS2. Games, period. Fantastic games can be released on DVD and crappy games can be released on Blu-Ray, after all.

Even more telling, they said that Sony is backing Blu-Ray. Fellas, Sony invented Blu-Ray. It's their format. Either the writer doesn't know about this or is somewhat biased in his portrayal, neither one of which is a positive to me. So please take that article with a grain of salt.

true sony did invint blu ray, and it is theres to mess with but it is expensive. a 4 hd dvd game would probly still be cheaper than one blu ray disc. pc is still top rung for gaming if you ask me even if it doesnt make most money, it still provides better games. the nintendo r will be kinda neat i think with being able to play ALL games made preveously. i use emulators all the time for n64 games lol ff games ruled btw
EDIT: i have a friend with a couple little siblings who's parent will probly buy them one. so i hope to get a crack at it.

Secondly, there are already rumours of Xbox 360 games in development that take up four DVDs. Four? Gamers, a largely sofa-bound demographic, will loathe getting up that often to change discs.
That's a slap in the F--ing face to any gamer. This comment alone should negate any reputable nature of this article, not to mention the excrementatious argument: everso eloquently floundered by this ignorant, vicarious slanderer.

Feel free to jump onto the Blu Ray wagon, though. I hear there's some great scenery on the way down.

..............and the games would not cost so much at the store, due to multiple disc's.

He didn't say 4 HDDVDs, but 4 regular DVD9s. Just thought I would say that. And also, while I think having tons of storage on your medium is a must, it truly will be up to the developers to utilize it. I mean already I saw an article on a multi layered BluRay disc that held 200GB, isn't that overkill, that's the size of my largest hard drive! LOL!

i say the ps3 is way better. I mean come on what does the 360 have thats better, better graphics? I think not, more speed? i dont think so. Better games? How can you put the 360 on the map with halo, personally i dont like halo all that much. The ps3 has metal gear solid, killzone, better graphics, more speed and better design.
