Flashing MSI GFX5200 to GFX5500

hey guys,

i've seen quite a few guides on how to flash a GeForce FX5200 to a FX5500 here, however the BIOS links posted on clueless-oc FAQ were for a Gigabyte branded GFX 5200.

my problem is this, i wanna flash my MSI GeForce FX 5200 TD128LF but i can't seem to find any MSI GeForce FX 5500 BIOS anywhere at all. I've tried googling it and searching at www.mvktech.net but i still can't find any BIOS for a MSI FX5500.

so my question is will i be able to use the Gigabyte FX5500 BIOS with my MSI FX5200 card? if yes, then has anyone here actually done it successfully?
i really wouldn't want to fry my vga card, i dun have a backup and if it goes..i'm screwed...lol...

fyi, my card is 128MB DDR with a 128-bit architecture

thanks in advance ^^

so meaning that once i flash it to a Gigabyte BIOS, my computer will regconize it as a Gigabyte FX5500 instead of a MSI FX5500?

You should consider having a diskette ready (with a batch file) to perform a blind flash in case anything goes wrong. Of course, your machine should be set to boot from the floppy 1st.
