[Freeware]GameSave Manager - Page 29

post #281 of 413
Well to my disappointment I dusted off halo 2 and it wasn't supported, still. I can't blame you guys if you don't have the game to work with. I'll post back with the registry keys and whatnot

Okay, I have uploaded 2 registry entries. The first one is the install directory, and the second one is display and audio settings. There is an entry in the documents/my games folder but as far as I can tell is where custom maps are placed. May be a cool feature to back those up, but some people may not like the large sizes/time it would take.

Code:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft Games]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft GamesHalo 2]

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESOFTWAREMicrosoftMicrosoft GamesHalo 21.0]
@=""
"GameInstallDir"="C:\\\\Program Files\\\\Microsoft Games\\\\Halo 2\\\\"
Code:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftHalo 2]

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftHalo 2Audio Settings]
"ReverbEnable"=dword:00000001
"LowPassEnable"=dword:00000001
"MonoCount"=dword:00000024
"StereoCount"=dword:00000024
"Volume"=dword:00000000
"SpeakerConfig"=dword:e0000000

[HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareMicrosoftHalo 2Video Settings]
"ScreenResX"=dword:00000500
"ScreenResY"=dword:00000400
"ScreenRefresh"=dword:0000003c
"AspectRatio"=dword:00000000
"DisplayMode"=dword:00000000
"Brightness"=dword:00000003
"Gamma"=dword:00000002
"AntiAliasing"=dword:00000002
"HudSize"=dword:00000002
"SafeArea"=dword:00000000
"LevelOfDetail"=dword:00000000
@=hex(4):
After doing some searching, I can't find a location where the save is. Is it possible that it is just part of the GFW-L profile?

Okay, I found it.
My path is
C:\\Users\\Daniel\\AppData\\Local\\Microsoft\\Halo 2
So I guess it would be like
%appdata%\
oaming\\local\\microsoft\\halo 2
for you

(dont know how i missed this post for the last hour lolz)

and with the maps etc.. yh thats the problem... maybe a feature in the future to have seperate optiosn for these... BUT!!!!... thats what the custom entries are for (until there is an easy way to make everything efficent and less space consuming)

A database update has been released.

How to apply the Database Update:
Hidden Text Below! (Click to show)

To receive the update, do one of the following:
  1. Launch GameSave Manager with the "/update_db" commandline (requires you to allow GameSave Manager to access the internet to download and apply the update directly).
  2. Enable the "Auto-Update" function (again, requires GSM to have internet access).
    GameSave Manager will then automatically update the database next time you launch GSM.
  3. Launch GameSave Manager and click the "Check for Updates" button from the Main Menu (yes, you've guessed it... requires GSM to have internet access).
  4. Manually download the database update. Extract the gsdu file from the zip archive.
    Now do one of the following:
    • Double-click the "gsdu" file (requires the File Association with ".gsdu" files to be assigned with GameSave Manager).
      ...OR...
    • Run GameSave Manager with the following commandline:
      "/open: %1"
    Where %1 is the full file path to the .gsdu file.
    Include the quotation marks around the commandline too!

Added compatibility for the following game(s):
--Command & Conquer 4: Tiberian Twilight
--Dungeon Siege 2: Broken World
--Halo 2

Thanks matt, great program. I would never expect such great support on such a professional looking program that works flawlessly.

InsaneMatt is currently having computer problems. so unfortunatly cant work on GameSave Manager 2.0 at the moment (Suspected Hard drive failure... dont worry, GSM source code is backed up on an external drive)

That being said, He has worked very hard on GSM 2.0 for quite a while now so i guess this is just a sign for him to take a break lolz

Everything is on track, so still expect a Alpha release mid-may with the intentions of it being ready for its 1st Birthday

While this is all going on, in the mean time if u want to get involved in some creative way, anyone can create a logo suitable for GameSave Manager 2.0 that can be used for Desktop icons etc. Also if anyone is intrested. you can create a theme for GSM just by editing any of the available preview screenshots. the layout will most likely stay the same so no need to move things around. and Obviously, if u would like to see your work within GSM (and if InsaneMatt thinks your design is exceptional) you will get full recogntion of your work within the credits

Well after that troublesome hard-drive failure, I'm finally back on track.

Time to talk some more about GSM 2.0. I've made some considerable progress since GekzOverlord posted those screenshots 3(ish) weeks ago.
Most of GameSave Manager's features are now functional; some minor work has also been done to the GUI.

Here's a screenshot of the modified GUI, a long with the newly designed "Technical Information" page:

As GekzOverlord has hinted at a few times (such as in this post), GameSave Manager 2.0 will have DropBox support.
What this basically means is that, if you specify to do so, GameSave Manager can automatically detect your "DropBox Sync Folder" and save all your backups there without you needing to define a filename (and path) each time. In turn, DropBox will automatically start uploading your backups (like any other file in it's Sync Folder).

All going well, an ALPHA will be released sometime next week.
Stay tuned

I noticed that just before I went to bed (someone in the GSM forums posted about it).

I've never visited LifeHacker before, so I have no clue what's it all about but it appears they have a massive following (over 1.3 THOUSAND downloads in under a day).

Appears GameSave Manager is becoming popular again

----------------------------
On another note, I finally released a ALPHA of GSM 2.0. As it's an ALPHA, I don't really want to post a link to it's location.
If you're interested, just PM me.
