Hello, I'm new

Thread Starter
Hello, as the title says, I'm new, but not just to the forums, also to overclocking, I've decided to start, because I want better proformance, but can't afford the price tag of the more expensive CPU's, my first question of course, what would be the cheapest, but not a waste of money, in the ways of a liquid cooling kit, how far can I go with my Intel Pentium 4 Prescott 2.80E GHz, without any -MAJOR- risks, as, if I can't afford to buy a better CPU, I also can't really afford to replace this one.

I was origonally just going to buy a Bigwater SE, but decided it would be better to ask advice, than to possibly waste money and need better cooling at a later time.

Thanks in advance.

A little higher than my budget really, cause when I think on it I still have to replace my case... My fist uh... Accidentally hit the front of my case one day, regretted it ever since.

How does that compair to the Bigwater SE, I'm unsure what to look for in liquid cooling systems, although, bigger the radiator, better the cooling, correct?

I don't have a job yet, so I'm limited to what I can afford...

Your CPU should be just fine if you keep it within the thermal (65°C) and voltage (1.525 volts typical, often 1.55 volts on good water cooling) specifications. Within those guidelines, you can push it just as fast as it can possibly go.

Thats nice to know, but I also noticed my bios doesnt give me any option except the bus speed, thats all I can modify, with the intel thermal solution I can't even get it past 2.88ghz without it getting unstable, prohaps I'm missing something.

i have a strong feeling that if ur temps are good then it has to be the ram...

in any case the ram doesnt seem to me like its meant to be oced....

try upgrading the ram to something else maybe at least a pc4000

This motherboard only supports up to DDR400, and my RAM's overclocked to 400mhz at the moment, and I set the timings to 2-3-2-5 (I think).

Well I know the ram is samsung.. Thats about it at the moment, want me to check?

Sidenote: I'm hoping to be able to order the Bigwater SE on the 10th (Or better solution if someone points out something better which I can afford at the time (Not sure what I can afford exactly yet))
