Alot of people say the thermaltake Big Typhoon is the best HS out there when paired with a good fan, I think I'm going to go w/ something that looks more like the zalman's, a thermaltake Blue Orb 2. I really can't decide between finding something copper or going with aluminum, as the copper conducts heat better but doesn't release it as fast as aluminum.

i have a venus12 and it works well for me. have 1.65v and all i run is 45c, but thats on a venus core. never used the big typhoon though.

I'm going to pipe up and say the tt big typhoon is the best... but I really like mine. even with stock fan on it... my cpu is running at 27 degrees right now and It's probably about 23 or so in the room. even when my cpu is OC'd quite a bit it keeps the idle temps below 30 and loads below 38.

And for the performance gain on the cheap water cooling kits, you might as well buy the big typhoon, it has a much better performance to price ratio the water cooling is better, but not by much

The two best Hs/f out are the Big typhoon and the Xp-120
I recommend the Big typhoon, only because you dont have to get a separate 20 dollar nice fan to go along with it.
Both should keep your loads hear 30 or so on stock, and below 55 when overclocking.

They are both very good alternatives to watercooling, with out the hassle and mess, while still getting the very best performance.

If you are worried about noise, The Zalman 7700 CU is the best cooler that will be quiet enough to get a good night's sleep.

I have also read that the new Thermalright HR-01 is very good as well, but no one here has tried it yet, here is a review
http://www.overclockers.com/articles1277/

Any of these heatsinks will work just fine, good luck overclocking!
