Driver/OC probs

Thread Starter
I have the 81.95 forceware driver but everytime i try to overclock my 7800 GT OC it crashes, i got 78000 aquamark score and 15223 3d mark 03 score with the stock setting but I see people oc'ing their card to over 500mhz and mine must stay at 425 adn 1050, is this the best driver or should i go back to any older drivers and if so where would I get them?

What program do you use to overclock? Is your system 100% stable with your videocards at stock speeds? How stable is your 12V voltage while under load? What are teh temperature of your videocard like?

I'm not a fan of Ultra products and wouldn't be surprise if your PSU is insufficient for oc'ing...

well the voltage says its at 12.5V and rated for 12.0, doesnt fluctuate too much, um temp is 44C at the bottom of the heat scale, i used the coolbits to oc it, and yes system is 100% stable at stock speeds.
When I oc'ed it I got a massive reduction in GPU score in aquamark....right before it crashed. I am talking from 12000 stock to 8000 oc'ed

ok I just ran pc alert while running aquamark and the voltage stayed between 11.7 and 12 (kept the stock clocks on the card but cpu is clocked 650 mhz over, as usual). Is the fluctuation of .3 v enough to make it crash when I overclock it?
Its a 500 watt supply, but is it enough? Am I goin to want to get a better one? If so, recommend me one please.

5% is the threshold for voltage. How about the 3.3 and 5 volt rails.
If you are looking at a new psu. I would recommend the ocz powerstream 520 or a psu built by pc power and cooling these are pricey though.

Shouldnt be the psu because the 7800 take a lot less voltage to o/c my 7800 runs at the same speed stock but i can o/c to 480/1200 with no probs.have you used a progie called coolbits to unlock the clock frequencies? and also i use those drivers here are som stock piccies. By the way same driver version as you

yeah i used coolbits and coolbits 2, neither give me stable gpu overclocking...grrr
It maybe that my card is "bad-out-of-the-box" in reference to overclocking it, but I cant send it back because obviously the warranty wont cover overclock probs
