P4 3.0E overclock, 250FSB possible?

Thread Starter
I am runing a P4 3.0E on a ASUS p4p-800-E Deluxe
With ZALMAN CNPS7700-CU 120mm Fan.

Currently my RAM is Muskin PC2700, but I am looking to upgrade to DDR500 to run a 1:1 with a 250FSB.

Currently I am OCed at 240FSB @ 3.6 stable. Is it possible to reach a 250FSB with this cooling unit? If not, would it be possible to run the DDR500 RAM with a FSB speed of 240 only?

The RAM I am looking to get is the Mushkin eXtreme Performance DDR SDRAM Unbuffered DDR 500 (PC 4000) Dual Channel Kit.

Any advise? Thanks All!

The ZALMAN CNPS7700 is a great air cooler.
Yes, you should be able to reach 250 with the new DDR500 ram.
What are your current temps ? Ambient/Mobo/CPU ?

How much vcore are you using to keep it at that speed and what kind of load temps are you seeing? Remember that 55c is about the max for Northwood cores.

Using Everst Home ED.

Idle: C
Motherboard: 34
CPU: 38

CPU Core 1.49V

I believe the sensors are built into the motherboard.

Isn't this P4 a prescott?

Thanks.

That motherboard and processor both certainly have the capability of going to 250 MHz. RAM, cooling, PSU, etc. also have an impact on the maximum overclock, of course, but it's not inconceivable you could break the 250 MHz barrier.

The 3.0E should be a Prescott (there are also Northwoods, Willamettes, and Galatins). The max suggested temp for Prescotts is 65°C.
