Starting to lose my taste for Newegg, this is the THIRD DOA item I received from them, and I always have to pay shipping charges regardless.

Anyways, I had bought these for the overclockability of them, but I would stay away if I were you.

If it were me, I would go for the OCZ GOLD, I have OCZ platinum 2x1GB, and it's awesome, except that it will not go any higher than 227 FSB, but it at least WORKS! My Crucial Ballistix slowly died over the course of 6 weeks, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend them either.

hey, I'm sorry about your bad luck... but newegg has the best customer support ever! just call them or email support@newegg.com and explain to them that you are very disappointed to have paid for overnight shipping and then to get your ram doa. I can almost guarantee that they will offer to pay the return shipping if you ask them to. I have had a couple items that i had to rma to them and when I asked they have always paid my return shipping. they will offer up to so much, then you just email them or fax them a reciept and they'll refund your account. newegg is a great place! don't give up on them just yet.

BTW, your the first that I've heard of getting DOA G.Skill, everyone else raves about them.
Yeah, I don't know what it is with me. Sucks. No special cooling for the RAM, but my OCZ has run fine for a few months. Gotta alotta lotta air, so I don't think it's that, maybe it's me.

Only one stick was bad of course, and I played with the one that was good briefly before I sent it back, and wow, for a 1GB stick it was awesome!! Way better than my OCZ Platinum. It did 240 FSB @ 2-3-3-6 1T @ 2.65V, no problem, but I didn't want to change my multiplier, so I didn't see how far it would go, but my processor ran fine at 2.88GHz on air, which surprised me as well. I've changed my mind about these sticks, and am sending it back for a replacement rather than a refund like I was going to. Now if I can just get it processed, and back to me by the 16th when I check out of this hotel, and head back to sea.

You may as well go for these, dude. The price is right to take a gamble on, you can't really let that it was DOA for me sway you, sorry. I have that kinda luck with stuff.

That seems highly unlikely. Are you sure you're grounding yourself properly?

Yeah, I got an ESD strap. I'm a radar tech in the Navy, never have any probs at work, just a bad streak I guess. To be fair, the PSU blew up on first boot, and it was a bad batch, all the other reviews on Newegg had the same problem at that time, Enermax's fault, not Newegg's. The second DOA actually worked for a day or so before dying slowly. I'm not sure I should have said DOA, it was just easier than going into it.
