Hey hondaguy, could you please post the link to download what ever version you are using.

I tried the x86 and the 64 version. Nothing seems to work, they install but won't run.

FWIW, I did a quick install of Windows 7 x64 Pro last night (my first ever, hoo-ah!) and the version called "PhenomMsrTweaker_1.2.2_MOD_3-PowerStates_x64" installed just fine (ran as admin) and then started it as admin, started service, everything worked dandy.

Note that in the BIOS, the settings have to be:
1. AMD Cool 'n Quiet : Disabled
2. CPU Multiplier: Auto (actually not sure about this one... it's true for AMD CnQ, and is sorta the whole point of PhenomMsrTweaker, so definitely Auto best, and if not, might prevent running prog)

Only other thing that might be happening that occurs to me is if you might need to manually "Unblock" the downloaded file, in the file's properties. ?

I never had to put the cpu multiplier on auto on xp.

I also can run the program as administrator, but not sure how to install as administrator. I mean my account is the only account on the computer...

It is working on my system (Win7x64 Pro) so I thought I'd share my bios & system settings in case they differ from yours, maybe we can trace it to one of them.

BIOS F7 on 790X-UD4P (Gigabyte)
OC Settings: CPU Ratio: Auto, NB Freq (Bus): 11
Memory C1E: Enabled
Advanced BIOS Features: Cool 'n' Quiet: Disabled
Power: CPU Fan Control: Auto, System Fan Control: Disabled

Windows 7 UAC: Off

Before I let PhenomMsrTweaker run by itself adjusting voltages and the multiplier, I set Power Options to "Performance" while I run stability testing. When I moved to Windows 7, I started testing over again. I set volts to 1.45 and backed down to where it is now, 1.3625 @ 17.5 multi.

Seems stable here, and haven't had any problems other than getting my OC right. (knocking wood)

Re: UAC on Windows 7, I paid careful attention to the UAC instructions on Tweakhound.net -- not sure how important that is, but worth checking.

Should I start a new thread to record these (and other?) settings in a spreadsheet; and maybe it will become clear what the blocking issue is.

Are you trying the 32-bit version on Windows 64-bit??
this is bad, i installed it when i first set up win 7 and it worked perfectly and yesterday i wanted to change some settings and it stopped working:/ strange that it worked before without any problems...
