Save settings in CSS?

I don't know how to save the settings in the Video Settings in CSS. Everytime I boot up the game it replaces with the *Recommended settings for the system. So each time I have to manually go in there and set it myself and click "apply". But if I reboot, my personal settings don't stick. Help?

Did you make your config file read-only by any chance?

Yes...haha I think I was playing around with the cfg settings to make the game run smoother and enabled that. Thanks man!

Edit\\\\When I right click on the "Cfg" folder for CSS, I uncheck "Read Only" under Attributes, and then click Apply and OK. But when I right click on the folder again, the checkmark is still there.

That means that some files in the folder have read-only properties. It should work fine now and once you get your config to exactly how you like it, you can make it read-only again so that you dont accidently mess it up. Server admins can also unbind your keys and rebind say "kill" to mouse1. So when you shoot, you die. Its happened to me before and its easy to do if youre an admin. Setting your config to read-only will protect you against that aswell.

Nope, settings still won't stick. Can I manually input them into my CSS Cfg folder by changing some values with notepad? I want to change Shadows from High to Low, and Shader from High to Low. I think I need to put a 0 value next to those, but can't find them in the Cfg folder.

They arent in the config file. If you set those settings in the game and hit apply they will be back to normal after you restart the game? If so, try deleting CSS and re-downloading it or installing it off the CD. I dont see why this wouldnt work, but if I remember correctly the same problem happened to Yiffy? If so, he might have figured out how to fix the problem.

Also, go back and make sure that your config saved as not read-only. Uncheck all the attribute boxes on the config.cfg file in the cfg folder.
