Thats what I was thinking... both PCIe cards on SLI have a total of 4 outputs. You can have 4 monitors but if you switch to SLI you can only see ONE monitor... according to some of the posts in this thread, maybe 2 monitors MAX. One of the cards will not render anything out since basically it will be "helping" the other. And... according to what people are saying, running 2 monitors on SLI is SLOW, so I would rather just leave ONE monitor connected to the SLI cards.
Obviously my goal is not to be switching SLI on and off or connecting/disconnecting monitors... so my logic says you can add a third PCI card to the system. The two PCIe cards would be always on SLI, with only ONE monitor connected. and then a 3rd card with 2 more monitors... That would give me a total of 3 monitors connected and SLI performance all the time.
Ofcourse, this is in theory... my system would probably implode trying to process all this. I'm getting a migrane as it is
