how high vcore does the Asus A8N-SLI Deluxe go?

Thread Starter
I know I'm not the only one with this board on the forum... so anyway when i was testing the limits of my cpu a while back I could only get it to boot at 2.7Ghz with a vcore of 1.55. I was thinking that the people who had venice cores at higher clocks were running more voltage through them... so I figured i was probably just limited by my mobo... but then i was looking through the manual and the manual states that my board can go up to like 1.75 or so (I can't remember for sure and I'm not home at the moment to check it out right now)

So I was wondering if others could check how high they can set the vcore in the bios.

i have bios version 1014

I think you were looking for someone with your motherboard, not the DFI above, right?

Anyway, with mine it only goes to 1.55 as well. Older BIOS's had higher voltage. I have the A8N Premium, so the BIOS numbers are not the same, but the 1005 for mine that my board came with I think would have let me go to 1.65, or maybe it was 1004, not sure, that was a while ago. I think July-ish was when they switched over to lower voltage availability in the BIOS. If you really have to have the extra voltage you could revert to an earlier BIOS and see if it works out, there shouldn't be any ill effects, just don't go too far back, like from a year ago. You don't have a new dual core or anything, so you shouldn't have compatibility issues. If it doesn't have what you want, switch back.

I have the board and mine maxes out at 1.55 vCore in the BIOS, but when i set it at that vCore and look at my voltage using asus pc probe, it says my vCore is 1.58, so i guess thats really what mine maxes out at. I remember seeing something about how that extra voltage gets there but dont remember where i saw it.

hmm... well thanks for the reply. yes, I was looking for other people with my board. I just read the manual and noticed the difference... I really wish I could go higher. I'm not overly concerned bc 2.7 is pretty high... I'll probably try to get my whole system to run about 2.6 over break.

if anyone else has the same board and has more recent bios w/ higher vcore options please let me know!

The older BIOS use to allow for a higher Vcore but that changed around 1004 or 1006 and you need 1010 or 1011 to support the Venice.

1015 is the current release and with the right memory and dividers you maybe able to pull 2.6-2.7 as long as the IMC is OK and the CPU does not need to be driven hard.

Have a look through the A8N FAQ - see link in my sig.
