Do you have a PCI card that you could use to boot into Windows?

is there anything that you notice along the card that may make it appear to be overheating?

Look the card over, front and back. Is there anything that appears to be damaged, burned, chipped, etc.?

The reason why I ask.. Is that I once had a powersuppy that exploded and when I opened it up one of those round cylindrical transformer things or what ever was touching one of those copper cable rings and there was melted plastic all over the place...

If anything looks like its touching something it shouldn't or appears to be loose then that could lead to heat problems...

Has the Heatsink/fan been replaced on it at all.. or removed and put back on? If so it could be overheating from not having a proper heat transfer compound on it between the chip and the heatsink

No, I don't have a pci card to boot into windows. I do have another agp card which im using right now "9600XT"

As for the heatsink thing. It does not seem like it has been removed or anything. Looks brand new to me. Nothing on the card seems burnt.

I don't mean to say definatively this is it but that looks EXACTLY how my 9800pro (r360) looked when I tried to flash it and it wasn't quite right. On the upside, when I flashed it to the original bios it was fine. Perhaps this is not an x850 pro at all and it was something some flashed INTO an x850pro. If there were any way to find out what it was originally you could flash it back and have a working card. Me, I'd see if the guy on ebay will make good on the card and if not report his @$$ to ebay for selling counterfit or falsely listed items!

well it looks like a x850 pro. same heatsink and design and everything. Even the ram is similar. Samsung and ends in 16. I tried flashing it to an x850 pro back but it doesn't seem to work. Same problem. On the downside 2 of my family's computers graphics card also died. 6600gt, and a 9800 pro.
Now all I can use is a 9600 xt.

I also contacted the seller. That person agreed to give me all my money back plus shipping. But if I can get warranty service on the card, den she would give me $50-75 for the hassle. I guess she didn't intentionally sell the card to me like that.

I just opened up the heatsink on the card, and it seems that the compound is kind of dry. Is it suppose to be like that? I remember my cpu compound was still kind of "wet" when I took out my cpu.

Also does anybody have a link to the original bios of the x850 pro agp. 1.6 ram.

Sounds like the warranty service and the cash would be the way to go. I'm glad it wasn't someone trying to rip you off. I don't think it would be a heat issue to be pixely on bootup and if it is it's still waaay an rma issue if it heats that bad that fast. And yes, the crappy thermal paste ati uses looks real dry, but don't change it, they may give you a hastle about it.
