I think my vid card is f-d up

Thread Starter
Whenever I run a game like FS2004 or Star wars galaxies the whole screen turns into a bunch of lines. Only does it when I try to run games, doesnt do it whenever I run apps like ie or paint. I have a picture of what I am talking about. In the case of Star wars galaxies, when it does that it will just crash to desktop..FS2004 just keeps going and it will clear up once loaded. Any ideas on what is going on, and/or how to fix it? the gpu is cool to the touch, no heat what so ever.

This is what the FS2004 loading screen looks like.

thanx in advance

Have you tried uninstalling the drivers for the GFX and re-installing the latest version?

All else I can suggest is to unplug everything that's non-essential and see if the problem persists. If it does it might be dodgy I'm afraid.

if the gpu is cool to the touch, that means its not even running!

unless you have a crazy fan and a geforce 2, but other than that, its not running properly...

Anyways...have u checked the actual cord going to the monitor making sure everything is plugged in. Make sure its seated properly to the agp slot. I dont know if it has a molex plug but make sure thats in as well. Did you you have this overclocked? Also did you make sure to not use too much as5 (more than a bb size is too much). Make sure there isnt any as5 anywhere on the card besides on the gpu dye itself. Load into safe mode (hold down f8 when windows loads) and try uninstalling the drivers and be sure to clean them off with driver cleaner pro. Then reinstall. All I can think of right now

Boot to safe mode, then reduce the refresh rate, resolution, or remove the drivers.
