Thermal Grease.

Thread Starter
I've wiped some thermal grease off my gpu to look at some specs and the reapplied some thermal grease. But the layer is very thin and I feel my Video Card getting real warm now.

What brand name thermal grease should I buy for a X800GT ?

Oh, and all X800's are supposed to show up in ATI Tool's temperature diagram .. but I can't seem to activate that option .. could someone tell me how ?

Thanks for the help.

load ati tool up
click settings in bottom right hand corner
look up top for overclocking, click it
youll see a drop down list now
click temperature monitoring
check mark the measure card temperature
and where it says tray icon
you can check mark one of the radio buttons there
hold your mouse pointer over the atitool in your system tray and it will show the temps

and as5 owns

I ended up buying Arctic Ceramic for 11.99$ CAD. It would of cost me 10.98$ US for Arctic Silver 5 (with shipping fee). This way I don't have to wait the days of shipment. From what I read there isn't much difference between silver and ceramic except that ceramic does not conduct electricity at all. It's actually classed as a electricity insolent.

For the ATI Tool tip, thanks but I don't have that option under overcloacking . I do have .24+ so yes it handles it. Must be my card... which is weird.

Arctic Ceramique has a thermal conductivity of 200,000W/m2 °C and Arctic Silver 5 has a thermal conductivity of 350,000W/m2 °C. Ceramique is designed for cooler temperatures like phase change. The long term use for Arctic Silver Ceramique is –150°C to 125°C and the long term use for Arctic Silver 5 is –50°C to 130°C. Both should work fine, but next time you might wanna get the AS5 is the price is close.
