I disagree. GTA had a very long and elaborate storyline, but that didn't stop it from sucking... I got bored of the game within a couple hours, and even the fun of driving around on killing spress and causing pointless destruction got to be a waste of time. I really don't see why the games are so popular, especially considering all the "new" ones are exactly the same as the original, but with expanded environments. It was fun... for a little while.

Graphics don't make the game, only an idiot would say something like that. Some of the best games people still play today are from several years back and even then weren't anything spectacular to look at. A good story, immersive gameplay, and strategy or some other aspect that requires you to use your own brain beyond the facility of pressing buttons, those are the things that make a good game, at least in my humble opinion. Unfortunately, most of those things have been lacking from the "mainstream" ultra-mega shiny games, but can still be found in some of the background games.

I'm going to buy a Nintendo Revolution not because I need fancy pretty graphics, I have a top-of-the-line computer for that, but because I know it will have great games, just as all previous Nintendo systems have.

Wow Jori, I have to wonder if you've even played these games. The story gets pretty deep and the mission variety is pretty wide in Vice City and especially in San Andreas. The gameplay is far from simplistic...but even if it was, Mario and Zelda have simplistic gameplay, but they are both still great!

It's one thing if you just don't like GTA, to each his own after all. I dislike a lot of popular games, e.g. all of those WW2 based FPS that everyone seems to love. But if you're going to bash on the game, at least do it with credible arguments about what you dislike.

Exactly.. They may be long and elaborate (so said) but to me, the storyline just sucked.. I really dont wanto walk around as a rap worshipping "gangsta" killing people with 9mm or something.. Just boring.

And GTA is simplistic. There are no puzzles to it, just basic controlls.. In Mario and Zelda there are alot of things you have to do to progress, whether its pull levers in a order, or do crazy walljumps...

so that's why you are a Nintendo fanboy eh Jori? Afraid of a little senseless killing? LOL! Im only kidding of course. Honestly though, I am shocked at how people can have fun playing ridiculous games like Mario Kart, anything Mario, Zelda, Starfox and other "classic" Nintendo games. Last Friday, a friend of mine had a thing at his house which he called "Tarantino64 in which we watched Quentin Tarantino movies and played N64 and Im glad to say that it opened all of my friends eyes as to how much Goldeneye for the 64 SUCKED and how anyone who praises it as a great game MOST LIKELY is just having nostalgic pipe-dreams.

I am being a bit harsh but I just look at people over the age of 10 playing most Nintendo games and literally think to myself ********* and then go play CSS/GTA/BF2/NFS:MW or something lol!

Now before I get overrun by Jori and others ( ) let me say that not ALL Nintendo games suck or are kiddy, and that the Game Cube was not 100% a kiddy console........it did have Resident Evil 4.......

Jori please don't tell me that "pulling levers in order and crazy walljumps" make a great game in your opinion, because that is just plain crazy. To me, a compelling, deep story coupled with very high def graphics and sound and FUN gameplay make a great game. Which is why I loved F.E.A.R.

They are the same. You can travel back and forward into different time periods, one slightly goofed up, another one gone to tell ruled by gannon. All they did was switch around some properties like you go through portals .. but all and all. its the same story line.

Think of Ocarina of Time as Link to the Past v1.2

OoT is still a great game, dont get me wrong in thinking that it isn't. But this is only to counter the argument that all other games but the ones that Jori like are repetative and the same thing over and over again.

But yeah... Mario 3 kicks ass

Basically the whole displacement thing is nothing really that special.. I mean its like mapping and it has been done before.

*sigh* They aren't the same, Ziel. The storylines are not the same. And warping from a light world to a dark world is not the same as travelling forward and backward in time. It's a similar game mechanic, evolved from one game to the next, sure; but all sequels do that with their best game mechanics.

It's time for this thread to get back on topic if it's going to continue, I think. Enough bashing on games you don't like, let's all get back to talking about the power of the Revolution hardware.
