This will give you 2.4ghz AND 400mhz(DDR400) ram.
If I do this, I can only do 3-3-3-8

Thats probably all you can get out of that ram, me personally I'd rather have a fast stable overclock on the cpu than have 2.5 vs.3.0 cas. Heck, with the right divider you might be able to push faster than 2.4ghz, it seems your ram is holding you back.

When I ordered the RAM, they sent me ECC. It wasn't what I wanted and I wonder if that is holding me back. In my A8V-E is a spot to turn off the error checking and I have not had any problems yet since disabling.

Funny this 'speed' thing is a releative issue. What appears fast today will seem normal on Tuesday and slow next weekend.

Here are some of my tests:

ECC is slower due to the error correcting, for performance you want unbuffered for the bes results.
If you purchased it reciently, you may be able to exchange it.

Run the RAM divider at DDR266, and turn up your FSB to 260. Give the CPU 1.55v. You should be able to run this 24/7 (I can...see sig for my max OC...i'm running 290x9 = 2.61Ghz right now since i've got DDR600 RAM).

So there are no issues plopping in DDR600? Is it expensive?

Nope. My motherboard can handle 300+ FSB, so it isn't an issue.

Yes, it is very expensive. The Dual Channel kit of OCZ PC4800 Platinum Elite Edition i'm using are currently going for about $220 on Newegg.

Yeah, they're matched to run at dual channel without a hassle.

Those Geil One's look bad-ass too...1.5 CAS would be sick if more mobo's could run it.
