40 gig hdd showing up as 20 gig?

I have a western digital 40 gig IDE hdd that shows up in my computer as 18.6 gigs when it sould be 37.2 like the other 2. I do not understand what could cause this. I even pulled it out and put it in my main computer and it showed up as a 40 gig, so I don' tthink it is the hdd. I think it is something to do with this other computer. What could it be?

Try running the XP disk management app, By right clicking on my computer and hitting manage. Then click on disk management and then see if you can reconfigure it a 40gig. If not then that is really weird. Might want to email the manufacturers of the motherboard and hard drive to try and get some support. Might also want to try and do a google search for 40gig showing up as 20gig.

Yea I thought it was kinda weird too because I have 3 40 gig IDE hdd's and only one of the 3 shows up as a 20 gig on that computer, but in my main computer the all work fine.

EDIT: I looked in the bios, and they all show up as having 40022 mb. But still in windows that one shows up as a 20.

Ok, I figured it out. Somehow Windows managed to partition it so it only showed up as a 20 gig on that computer. I have no clue how it managed to do that, but I promise you that in my main rig it showed up as a 40 gig. Anyway, it is being repartitioned as I type this.
