Need Help Installing New Motherboard!!

Well, posting again.... this time i've got a new problem...........

I started with the emachines t6522, with amd 64 3500..... 2gig of ram(upgraded) and upgraded to ati x700 pro video card.....

I just got a new xion case and 450watt power supply, new heatsync and fan, and a new motherboard.....

The mother board is the DFI lanparty F4 ultra-d

I have everything put in the new case, the hard drive is plugged in, cd drive, the processor and the new colling system is all hooked up.... also the ati video card is hooked up..........

My delimma............. I just took the hard drive out of my emachines computer and put it in, didn't reformat *i was told this might work* but i am getting NOTHING when i turn the new setup on........... not even a bios screen, is this because my hard drive is already formatted to the other motherboard? If so, could i just go buy a small hard drive and use my 200gig hard drive as a secondary and not have to delete all of my stuff? (i have a bunch of stuff for college i would hate to lose but I COULD lose iit if i need to)

Also, I don't have a windows cd, so I would have to go buy one IF i'm going to need to set up a new HD

Any ideas why I am getting no display at all?

Take out and plug in all the wires again; and make sure you get tham all in the right spot; and reseat the graphics card.

I've tried checkig all of the wires, from what I can tell they are all in the right spot........... Does anyone know if my hard drive will plug into the new board and start right up? i've had mixed opinions about that, some people say I could plug everything in and just start the computer, THEN install the drivers for the new motherboard, some say i MIGHT need to reformat and start from scratch....

Let's not worry about the hard drive for now. Unplug the hard drive totally and start the computer and see if it atleast posts and you can access bios. Once that is achieved, we can go from there.

Also, does your video card require a seperate power supply cable, maybe the molex kind. I'm not familiar with the x700. if so MAKE SURE its plugged in.

I also just noticed, When I try to turn the system on, the "standby" led doesn't go off, and only 3 out of 4 of the "system booting" lights turn on.... Could I have something hooked up wrong?

I think i'm going to have to just try to get ahold of dfi.... hopefully someone reads this who has knowledge on motherboards!!

I am guessing your CPU fan is spinning? I had the exact same problem you had and what fixed it for me was a reseat of the cpu and heatsink. I don't know why exactly but it fixed it. Also plug your speakers in, my motherboard says what the problem is through the speakers.

Edit: If 3 of the lights are turning on look in your manual to see what the motherboard is trying to tell you and go from there.

The speakers were plugged in.... the fan on the processor is spinning, i've reseated the processor 3 times.... uhmmm and yes the fan on the video card is spinning....

THe lights on the motherboard mean the following
XXXX = system start up
XXXo - cpu detected
XXoo - DRAM detected
XOOO - VGA detected
OOOO - system boot up

If any PCI cards are plugged in unplug them all. Try with one ram stick in. Don't you just hate putting in a new mobo and just getting a black screen...

What PSU are you using?
