Setup Problem

Thread Starter
Hi !!

I OC my Intel2.4 by increasing the Frequency in the Setup from 133 to 166 and CPU-Z Confirmed the Sped increase to 3.0 GHz. !! great till here !! I had saved the Setup and exited, System booted and I woked fine for the day

Next day when I switched on the system and checked the Freq using CPU-z, I found out that the Freq was again 2.4GHz and the BIOS Setup had reverted back to 133 !!!

Why is it so ???

Any suggestions ??
Regards

Go up to User CP at the top of this page and then to Edit System Specs and fill out that information, that way we know exactly what your running and we can help you better.

Have you tried resetting it? Did you remove the battery/jumper or re-load defaults? What are you temperatures ( if you dunno where to find them DL a program called speedfan or MBM5 or everest) ?

By refering to "setup" I take it you mean you changed the clock frequency using your systems BIOS. If you used software they would not remember the overclock unless you had selected an option in the application to do so.

1. What may have happened is the settings that you selected were not stable, this may mean that your motherboards safety features changed the clock settings back to default.
This relates to compatable boards with a varient of the C.P.R feature (CPU Parameter Recall).

2. The BIOS settings were not saved when the system shut down, thus settings were set back to their default values when the system activated.

3. The CMOS battery is low on power (unlikely) and was unable to hold your settings after AC power loss.

Try changing the clock settings a small amount and then shut down the system and reboot it, after you have done that check if the settings remain. Do this procedure a few times and leave the PC off for a few mins while the system is off (unplugged from the AC power source also).
