2 6800 GT's or 1 7800GT??

Thread Starter
I currently have a 6800 GT PCI-E overclocked to Ultra speeds... ive been wanting to run another 6800 GT in SLI mode with it but i dont know if the $250 price tag for another one is worth it when i can spend only $50 more and get a 7800GT...

Any ideas? Personally i believe the single 7800GT will be better than 2 6800 GT's both overclocked to Ultra but i guess its better to get other peoples opinions before i make a move...

I would get another 6800GT since you already have one.

I would get the 7800GT and you can get another one in SLI later when you have the money. More future proof.

i think what i might do is get a 7800 GT and leave the stock cooling on it. As of right now i have my water cooling system going over both my OCed CPU and my OCed GPU... my temps should get better on my CPU if i get a 7800 GT and leave the stock cooling on it...

don't upgrade at all, at this point you don't need to upgrade...like what game lags on a friggin 6800gt these days? (maybe f.e.a.r.) but thats not the point.

if you really do want to upgrade just get an other one of those because a 7800gt is way more power than you need anyways (in my opintion, but then again i am too confident in my 5500 PCI, which still runs f.e.a.r. on medium settings with shaders off and dx8 shaders

A friend of mine has a 6800 Ultra and it has noticable detail/frame rate differences from another friend's 7800GTX. I'd say go with not2bad; sell your 6800 and buy a 7800GTX (if possible the 512mb model.)

lol not2bad... funny guy u are... but smart indeed, the selling part sounds like a good idea... but the fact that i still need to add like $550 to what i get from it is not good at all to buy a 512mb GTX... hellz no... i think i will stick with the 7800GT idea lol...

If you sold your 6800 for $200, all you'd need is $350, which is what you'd neet for a 7800GT anyway, except you'd get more pixel pipelines, etc. and double the memory.
