7800 or x1800

I have about $300 to spend on a video card for the system I'm getting. I want a 7800gt but I was wondering if ATi has a comparable card for about the same price. I saw a X1800XL for about $350 and a 7800GT for about $300. Is the X1800 worth the extra $50 compared to the 7800GT?

Get a 7800GT... eVGA might be your best bet on manufacturer too.

Thanks, guys! I was thinking the 7800 was better anyway, but I just needed some opinions.

It basically depends on what kind of applications you will use it for. For a thorough comparison of cards, check

Looks great. I'm not nessecarily going with that particular one right now; when I actually buy, I'll check for the lowest prices then.

On the THG VGA Charts, they ran FEAR at 1280x1024 with AAx4 and AFx8, max quality and the 7800GT beat the Radeon X1800XT with 512mb of memory by 4 fps. That sounds like a good deal to me!

Ya...those THG charts were very odd looking...other sites had totally different results. They even said the X1800 didnt support soft shadows but the 6200TC did...like I can believe that.
Very nice!
