Thread Starter
my new to be old cpu is running at 58 C. with the stock fan and one case fan. there is no over clocking that i know of. the core is at 1.71 volts. the chip is an athlon xp 2700+
fan 1 is running at 6250 rpm's
fan 3 is running at 4687 rpm's

58 C alittle high?

Yes,58 is a little excessive. Not even a stock heatsink should run that badly,in this transition period before you get your venice, you should definitely invest in a new ball bearing fan if you wish to keep this processor for future use.

Alternatively you can skimp and just get a cheap fan to hold you over, your main goal though is to keep it cool.

It'a a bit warm.
When was the last time you claened ot the case, dust and lint collects in the heat sink fins.
Also, reapplying a thermal compound will help. AS5 or Artic Silver5 is the premium product but a reapp of the common white paste compound should help, with time the original compound should be removes and new applied.

Is the HSF sitting correctly on the chip? Did you lap and apply thermal paste?
