This man speaks the truth! THis is the truest statement I have seen on this forum in a long time. I love AMD/ATI, but they are still in it for the money just like Intel and Nvidia.

I think starting an argument to gain fans when they don't have anything on hand is just as bad as nvidia advertising physx/down playing dx11 and will make them lose fans/credibility in the end.
You do know, with both companys going to (Nvidia) and currently using (ATI) 40nm cores, both are going to have a manufacture shortage problem due to TSMC wafer issues. Although, it is claimed Nvidia already has a good amount of wafer to go around, if sales for their new gpus are like ATI's, there will no doubtingly be some places that are "out of stock."

You are correct, I think I maybe saw 1 or 2 rumors of leaked 3D Mark Vantage scores (no screen shot, just rumors of the score) and one for Crysis Warhead. However it's not really to ATI's advantage to leak anything being they released their card first. On the other hand it seems like Nvidia has everything to gain by leaking some benchmarks.

I use the term leak because it allows them to use any number/score they want without accountability. If the card doesn't perform as high as the rumors it's not like anyone will directly hold Nvidia responsible as long as it's not an official statement. Seems pretty win/win to me, I don't get it.

I just purchased 2 5770s(2 mid-range cards that are basically low power usage DX11 4870s) for $300 and the setup is currently faster than any single GPU solution(except the 5870 in certain cases) and draws very little power. Impressivly, the 5770s in Xfire scale x1.7. Comparing the system I am running now to my old i7 Nvidia SLI rig I can't even tell the difference in games at 1680x1050 and the cost is less than half of the Nvidia/Intel solution I had.

/rant

AMD is really in a great position right now in terms of the GPU market. Their cards are quick as **** and very reasonably priced. Nvidia is going to have a hard time matching price/performance in the gaming market. Of that, I have no doubt.

My guess is they will have to release very stripped down versions of Fermi and most probably re-brand GT200 for lower end discrete solutions.

I do envision Nvidia taking the performance crown, however, I do not see Nvida winning market share this round. IMO They are going to have to rethink their strategy for next round.

/speculation

AMD is king NOW!
And as much as i am confused as to why nVidea who, lets be honest, are quite sneaky with their marketing etc, haven't leaked benchies if their 3Bil transistor GPU had the ponies to cut ati sales until there cards come out, is really not something i get.
Although transistor count isn't everything (I'm guessing here, but doesn't the GTX 275 have 200mil more then the 4890? Yet there performance is the sameish [too lazy to check the numbers])

Im not a fanboy of ATI although i do support the underdog, because if the underdog buggers out of the industry then the consumers are screwed by a monopoly. Then EVERYONE loses.

At the moment nvidea is the underdog, but they are nowhere near as far behind as ATi fell, and they are a VERY big company, and now that they have focused on other markets, you can be guaranteed that they will not disappear, as a company anyway, and even as a PC GPU producer it is very unlikely.

One thing i can rip AMD about is stock.... then again remember how hard it was to get hold of a 4870X2 or a GTX295?

Also someone else stated that the most important thing of these companies is to be successful and make money, keep there investors happy etc, so unfortunately they will always do stuff not so moral or ethical to each other. And like SiliconDoc (or DocSilicon) said on the hexus forums is AMD the one being ethical when they lower there prices beyond what is economically viable for them as a company in an effort to annihilate nVidea as a company from that market segment entirely? [i can find that page if u wish but not now, because im going to sleep, and yes the guy who said this is a little bonkers but it still makes sense]

Nvidia is still champion in my book until ATI's drivers for Linux improve so that I don't take a performance kick to the face when using wine.

Ha! My logic is perfect!

But seriously, They've made HUGE improvements since I started using Linux (7.10 Kubuntu was my first), but its just still not up to par.
