8800 Ultra overclocking - Page 2

Changing the settings in the BIOS usually. At least for CPU's. Not sure if it's the same for GPU's.

Yes, but how the hell do you change something in a graphics cards bios!

I'm not sure if "properly" is the right word to use there, as that is by far the most common method, and works quite well.

However, you can modify the cards bios, which would allow you make more permanent changes to clockspeeds. However, this is a relatively involved process, which carries a certain element of risk.

Suppose I could just use evga precision, I just dont like the idea of the clocks being set only when window loads

Got it open now, where should I begin? Core, shader or memory and is there a reason to keep core and shader 'linked'

What you got your shader core and mem overclocked to ? Would it be possible to reach 700mhz considering this is the 'superclocked' edition

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Superclocked cards are very marginally overclocked from stock and are probably not higher binned parts. Higher Starting clocks does not always mean higher overclocks.

Try linking them. Despite the higher clockspeeds I was actually able to get both higher core/shader clocks stable by linking.

Possible on better cooling...but not stock heatsink. Most ultra top out around 680 - 700 on air. Around 720 is usually the max for watercooling, beyound that you need to do hard voltage mods to the pcb for higher clock speeds.

Ops 8800 Ultra is almost 10% oc from stock clocks. Considering the fact that for GTX 2xx series a SC card was usually only 20Mhz overclock SC card op has got a decent factory overclock to it. Also since it an evga sc variant he might be able to reach 2500 Mhz on memory speeds.

I really dont have the faintest idea about gpu overclocking. Could I just go straight to 675/1710/1150.
