OK. After uninstalling all of the ATI crap and reinstalling the drivers from the ATI site, i went back onto the game to test the settings and not only did it do about 35 percent worst but it also froze my computer! What the hell is wrong with it???!!!!

I believe that its no hardware problem or anything. Its that the x800 lacks the technology needed for the game. If you see benchmarks they ran F.E.A.R. very poorly due to the shaders capabilities that it lacked. DId all the other games improve such as halflife 2 or anything else you have. Test things out not always the same game.

F.E.A.R is a system killer like Doom 3 once was. However, a x800xl should still offer some performance increase in the game. I still say it's hardware related.

It may not be stable at those speeds. Hence why its freezing and losing performance.

on stock cooling my X800XL will only OC without artifacting to about 415 core 525 mem, so maybe timsvpr is right with the card not being stable at the speeds you have it clocked at.

As mentioned before also even if you o get it running with the x800xl the rm is what is bottlenecking your whole system and keepeing you from really being able to play higher settings.
