Low budget High performance

Thread Starter
I really need a new videocard the oc radeon 9600 that i am using now is really out of date.
I am a student so i have a low budget
I've read many threads about the 6600le the card isnt very expensive and can be flast to a gt version also its possible to unlock 4 extra piplines what makes the total to 8 pipelines. Im really interested in this card but ive only seen a flash thread with the pciE version of the card, i have agp.. does anybody know if this is possible with the agp version aswell?

if anybody has a tip about another high performance low budget videocard or any suggestions it would be nice to let me know.

i dont think 6600LE have extra pipeline to unlock, all i know is the 6800 vanilla and XT/GS version have 4 extra pipeline with 1 vertex thing to unlock, if u want ur card last long, buy 6800 or 6600GT , i willl buy 6800 anyway.

question: anyone know if 6800>6800XT>GS? could someone tell me the correct order, thx

what exactly is your budget? if you have 150 I would say get a 6600GT. if 200 then get a 6800GS.

The best brand IMO for the 6800le is Leadtek by far. But note that not all cards can unlock to 16/6 pipes (default for 6800le is 8/4). I have a Chaintech and only locked to 12/6.
@dongchen_han, the order goes like this 6800xt<6800<6800GS.

if your budget goes up to 200 then your best bet is to get an evga 6800GS. it performs on par w/ the GT (which you are not guaranteed to be able to unlock an le) and since the die process is smaller the card can OC quite well. an OC'd 6800GS would be better than a GT
