Hiding extensions on files.

Thread Starter
I've noticed some of my desktop icons have .exe on the end of them, but when I try to change their name so that the extension isn't on it, it displays a message saying that the rename may cause it to work incorrectly. When I do this, it does just that; stops working. How can I stop these from showing?

You are able to remove the .exe from shortcuts. Move the .exe files into a folder wherever, make a shortcut - put it on the desktop, then you can rename it to whatever you like.
