Welcome to the forums.

My guess is that those crazy temps are either misreads of sensors or reads of sensors that aren't there. Try using Everest as it identifies the components that go along with the temperatures. It's good for "calibrating" Speedfan (which uses less resources then Everest, so it's a good everyday program to leave running).

The reason why your CPU is operating at 2.8GHz instead of its normal speed is because EIST (Intel SpeedStep Technology) is running. This reduces the CPU multiplier to x14 and also reduces voltage. When your CPU operates above 70% your speed will return to normal as with the voltages

Im looking at everest and cant find temp monitor.

AHhhh cool, and Manual we have really similar comps.

Do my temps in the first post (pictures) look odd to you, can you tell me what it is? also, what about my vcore? why does it go up and down

Edit..

I found my temps on Everest , the pic is below, are these temps ok?

Edit...

Manual, Is it better to have Intel SpeedStep Technology on or off? thanks
Also, is it safe to start overclocking? Thanks for all your help

Hrm...is that an idle temperature or a load temp? Although idle is good to be aware of, full load temp is the main item of interest. I'm asking because your CPU temp is the lowest temp listed, which is very odd, even for idle. Please try running something intensive (Prime95, folding, etc.) to heat your system up and post the temps then.

If you're going to overclock, kill the SpeedStep. It's just going to limit what you can do with your own machine.

Yes, you can certainly start overclocking. Just be sure to keep your load temp under about 65°C.

Thanks a bunch, i appreciate it.

Yes thats my idle temp, i guess, i dont have really anything at all running, just put comp together and booted and installed the necessitites. I will run prime95, when i find out how, and post later.

So in all, my system is ok right? nothing to worry about yet?

Thankyou

Everything looks pretty good. The only thing that appears to be a bit off is your CPU voltage (vcore) looks pretty low to me, though that could just be a misread through Windows (which is very common). Just be aware that when you start overclocking, that may be the first thing you need to tweak in order to remain stable.

Also, before you get started, be sure to lock your PCIe and PCI frequencies, if possible, at 100/33.3 Mhz, respectively. Other than that, follow the overclocking guide, take baby steps (i.e. up your speeds slowly), test for stability often, and have fun.
