why dose this is7 and 2.4c hang?

I just bought a Abit is7 and a P4 2.4c i got everything runing. everything works fine. but when i try to play Need for Speed Underground 2. my frame rate is alot better then my Shuttle mobo and celeron 2.4. but the game pauses or hangs every 5 mins or so.....

anybody know why this is happening??

i didn't get this from my old setup?

It may be related to your other thread where your CPU fan stops spinning. The CPU may be throttling back to prevent itself from damage. However, running all the details on high with only 512MB of system RAM is really pushing it.

My thoughts are as of right now that the either of the two is causing it.

1. It may be related to you CPU fan stopping causing thermal throttling.
2. You may be running your details too high for the low amount of RAM you have in your system and your rig is constantly writing to the page file to store the extra information for the higher details. Writing to the page file will cause some choppiness to your game play but it shouldn't make it stop altogether.

I'm leaning more towards the first situation. I'd look into either replacing the stock HSF with something better.

it only stops when i run EQ. + prime95.... why would the mobo tell the fan to stop when the temp gose up?


i've been running prime95 now for 15 min.... the fan is on...no problem it has to be EQ

OK All speed control settings are off ...everything should be running at full speed....... MBM shows.

CPU: 2800 RPM
Northbrige: 5200 RPM
