Looking for a good sub $1000 TV

Thread Starter
Hey, I know I made 2 posts about 2 hours ago about the Apple 30in and the best 1080p TVs but please disregard them unless you feel the need to nominate a 1080p display you really love, I may make some sort of database or something later on or whatever.

Anyways, I have changed my mind, I am now looking for suggestions for the best sub $1000 TV that is 720p compliant, and atleast 30in, built in TV tuner and CableCARD capability are definite pluses. Think of the price more of a guideline than a budget but I want to know what you guys suggest, I am looking at buying one around late Januaryish......

I was actually looking at that (what's with that review by the way? lol) and I was liking it, also, CNET calls this the best CRT HDTV available and also a great bargain, http://www.sonystyle.com/is-bin/INTE...e_34%22to36%22
thoughts?

lol, I forgot about that, but remember I also did say that $1k was a guideline and not a budget. I actually don't know what my budget is but I do know that "$3700 is too much, WAY too much" - My dad .

No no, I am using it as a TV for sure. While I think that is a great price for a 27in LCD, I would rather go for a CRT if I am under 40in because CRTs have much better image quality and are cheaper for their sizes. If I went LCD it would be with my dream Sony Grand Wega or Sharp AQUOS displays.

I can tell you that the panasonic 30" widescreen crt, not sure the exact model number, was an awesome tv for around the $1000. The reason I got mine was this : I walked into the store with $2000, and pretty much just looked for the best picture quality, big screen or not. I walked out with the panasonic as it had the best picture (IMO) out of all the tv's in that price range. It has HDMI connection, which is surround audio and high def video signal through one easy cable, which I'm sure will become the indutry standard in a year at most, I think Xbox 360 even has HDMI, if not I am postive that the ps3 will. Also, it displays every current form of high-def, all the way up to 1080p, yes 1080P, and 1080i. All for around $1000 - $1400.
