Good job eVGA...

FINALLY some company is smart enough to put some protection on a $450 graphics card:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130254

They actually covered the whole PCB minus the hot components with metal...so no more ESD, no more popping off capacitors, no more hitting stuff with screwdrivers.

This is why I'm a fan of RAM heatspreaders...they don't help cooling much, but they look good and prevent ESD damage.

ESD hasn't been much of a problem lately, the chips are more resistant and I've personally never killed anything. I'm not too careful and don't use a lot of static bags on even older stuff, it all still works just fine. (I say this but the next piece of eq I pick up will probably die)

Yeah, the cover also makes the card look a lot cleaner, but ESD isn;t usually a problem unless the humidity level is like -30%, and you are wearing a flannel shirt, flannel gloves and wool socks on a carpeted floor.

It's suppposed to be better becuase the whole thing acts like a heatsink... there's still a fan to push air through it
