lol what's another $5 if you're already spending $100?

You can't compare audio cards by looking at numbers, but if you insist, here's some...... Btw, the X-fi can process twice as many simultaneous sound effects as the Audigy2. (and it sounds a lot better)

Here's some technical info, but remember that the X-fi also supports EAX 5.0 and the others don't.

and actually, i would try to buy it retail. my computer was having problems with quicktime or flash, don't remember which. but for whatever reason i couldn't use the install disc. i downloaded the drivers from Creative's site, but it did not activate the full use of my card. it could have just been me missing something, but i don't think so. once i finally found what was up with my computer, i uninstalled the drivers and used the drivers from the CD along with their audio control center and what-not. then i got full use of the card. (e.g. BF2 didn't recognize that the card was an X-Fi, so it didn't let me select the ultra high quality sound until i used the CD drivers)
Oops on the double post, but oh well, lol.

Im musically inclined too, Ive played bass and guitar for like 5 years, but ive been a vocalist longer, so basically it puts more even-ness in the sounds eh? Hell that will be good for me and my death metal loving ass I hate 2.1 after I realized why my audio sounds like piss-poor peavey amps hahahaha, the sound needs to be evened out over 4 speakers not two -_-.

2 for highs, 2 for mids, (dont remember what the center speaker is for...probably vocals) and then the sub for bass, I dont like 2.1 anymore because of the clashing in mids and highs, its disgusting and tottally destroys listening to music...

I guess ill just spend the extra and get it from zipzoomfly since its free 2 day shipping.

Good decision, but I have to argue with the reasoning 2 speakers can be the best listening experience of your life....but computer speakers and their sources won't allow for it. If you ever get a chance to hear a HIGH end stereo system, I not only guarantee that it'll only have 2 speakers (no sub either), but it'll truly leave you speechless and wishing it didn't cost as much as a house

Kinda like the ones at circuit city for the home audio systems

freakin 2000 dollars and up hahaha.

Oh and I agree with you on that especially for home stereo systems, the ones that are nice and have the big two speaker looking set up with the wee little subs in the corners are great lol.

$2k? That won't even buy the speaker cable to hook 'em up. I'm talking HIGH end I'm talking a system so revealing that you can hear a singer's tongue touch the roof of their mouth and I'm not even kidding. The first time I heard one, my friend and I were literally speechless. I can remember it like it was yesterday....I heard "You and your friend" by Dire Straits on a pair of actively quad amplified Linn Keltiks and nearly crapped my pants. Never in my life had I ever thought music could sound so real.

I agree with SCCR, he knows what he's talking about. First off, the X-FI is much better, I'm going to get 1 for christmas.

And even a middle end Stereo system will kill any computer speakers, even if 7.1 with a 200w sub. A 2000$ set of speakers, well, that's middle end, and that's what I'm used to. If you get 2 floorstanding speakers, each 800-1000$, and then a good high current stereo reciever OR a pre-amp and then amps for each channel,(about another $1000 or 2) you will already have AWESOME sounds, but the only way to get that good sound out of a cumpter would be to get something like an Xfi and then hook the Speakers through the digital out on the card, then you'll get great sound, but even most games and ripped music won't do them justice. Heck, for systems any more expensive then the middle range, you pretty much need to have DVD audio to notice a big differnce . So, no offence, but for death metal, you really don't need anything but a nice sub and 2 cheaper ($300) floorstanders and a 100x2w stereo reciever

Just my 2 1/2 cents
