Bent Pins!!!!-Problem found but still ????

Thread Starter
Ok, I went to remove my old heatsink and the proc came right up with it....well it bent some of the pins on its way up. I bent them back and the proc fit right down in the mobo w/o a problem. However whenever I boot up nothing happens. No bios...nothing...not even my monitor will kick on now....so my question is

Did i ruin the processor?

Or

Did i ruin the mobo?

Please help me out here...im having to use my work computer to figure out this problem

Does the CPU have all the pins? If any of the pins came off, there will be no contact made between the CPU and socket.

well in order for the cpu to come out like that the little metal thing becide the cpu bus is pulled up, did you try putting in the cpu without the metal bar pulled up? or if you did, maybe you didn't put it all the way down so the pins aren't making contact...try it

Did it come out easily the first time or did you have to really pull on it? If it came out easy I am thinking there might be a slight chance one or more of the contacts in the socket are too loose and are not making contact.

Have you tried a CMOS reset? Make sure all other connections are okay and everything is seated correctly in your rig.
I've done this before and became so fixated that I'd broken the CPU/Mobo that I didn't check the rest of my rig correctly. I'm virtually certain that you've done no permanent damage (as long as all the pins are intact).
If everything looks in place and it still won't boot, my advice would be to disconnect everything and then rebuild. This has helped me a few times as it makes you carefully check that everything is connected.

Do you not have a spare CPU you can put in to test or a spare mobo you can use to test if it's the CPU ?
